Streaming Services:  For my wildcard paper I decided to build off of one of our presentations that was assigned to us this semester television genres. I want to take a dive into how streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime video, etc. are changing how we watch TV around the globe. Netflix has over 148 million paying subscribers as of 2019 but this doesn't include the free trial users if you count them it's closer to 155 million users. This doesn't include the people that mooch off of other peoples accounts or families that have multiple profiles on one account. Netflix makes up more than 30% of the world's streaming services. Hulu is not as popular Netflix but still has over 25 million subscribers to their streaming service around the world. However, who is expecting a large increase in users after they agreed to make a package deal with Disney's new streaming service Disney+. this new package offered through Disney features Disney+, ESPN+, and ...

Women In Saudi Arabia:  Here in America we as women are extremely blessed to have the rights and to feel some safety in our everyday lives. Other women in countries around the world are not nearly as lucky as us. For example I'll be discussing the women of Saudi Arabia, who have been a hot topic in the world of human rights. The picture above I got from a video created by the Human Rights Watch which shows 10 Reasons Why Saudi Women Flee which I have linked here. Saudi Arabia is located in Southwest Asia and is the largest country of Arabia. First I want to discuss Saudi Arabia's male guardianship system, which means a man controls a woman's life from birth to death. Which means their day to day lives are dictated by someone else every step they make is not their own. The thing that shocked me the most is that the man controlling the woman can be father, husband, brother, or even a son. A woman's daily routine can be dictated by her own son. Which blows my m...

Digital Access in India  Here in the United States having access to technology and affordable devices is a rather easy thing. You can stroll down to your local Walmart pick out a very cheap phone and a phone plan for a very low price. This is slowly becoming a trend in places like India as well. A new study shows that India is in a rapid rise in internet users in rural areas. In the annual ICUBE report last year the data shows that India is now registering a annual growth of 18% in internet users. In December of 2018 India was at a estimated 566 million internet users, throughout this year the total is expected to rise to at least 627 million users. I decided to take a deep dive into the "Digital Trends 2019: Every single stat you need to know about the internet"  I first looked into total internet penetration by country which in the United States we sit at about 95% and South Asia is only at 42%. Hootsuite's data shows that on average around the globe countrie...

France 24: Online News  France 24 launched in October of 2006 and is owned by the french government. They broadcast and publish stories in four different languages including French, English, Spanish, and Arabic. Their website when you launch pulls up top stories with full coverage and a list of clickable links to live news. It breaks it down into by the hour coverage to give users a full experience. For example I've included a direct screenshot from their home screen to show their timeline of events. The special coverage the site is covering is "France holds national day of mourning, final memorial service for Chirac " with live videos and updates. The site also created a web document showing the world of Jacques Chirac with loads of interactivity. It has links to all of his work with different places around the globe like Europe, the Middle east, the pacific, Africa, etc... They also covered when the Prime minister came and visited their studio in December of 2006...
